Why did Phibun, the Prime Minister of Thailand, change the country's name from Siam to Thailand in 1939?
I have researched online searching for the answer to this question, but no where has said why he did this. All the websites that I have looked on have just said that he changed the name from Siam to Thailand in 1939 and doesn't tell exactly why he did
Because Phibun (Field Marshal Plaek Phibun Songkhram) was a supporter of fascism. Fascist theory at that time, in the 1930s, followed the idea of racial purity; hence Siam was renamed as Thailand, ie. the land of the Thais.

Nissan says first-car programme distorts market
"The tax rebate for cars is complicated, confusing and questionable," said Toru Hasegawa, the president of Nissan Motor Thailand. The Japanese carmaker pioneered the development of eco-cars, a new segment that has received substantial encouragement from the Thai government and attracted billions of baht in new investment by carmakers. Nissan has become the latest in a long list of carmakers to criticise the programme, even though its popular March eco-car is eligible for the tax rebate. The government approved a 17% excise tax rate for eco-cars to make the prices of the small, fuel-efficient vehicles attractive to consumers. However, other subcompact models are taxed at 30% and the rebate could be as much as 100,000 baht, making their prices very close to those of eco-cars.Siam-Discovery.com: Investigators in Thailand have a tough job

Museum of Siam | Thai Blogs
If you have a few hours spare after visiting the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, then I highly recommend that you visit this new museum which tries to answer the question, “Who are the people of Siam. But we later found that as we walked through the exhibits we met some of the characters who gave us some of the answers that we were seeking. Located in the former premises of the Ministry of Commerce, the museum is just a short walking distance south of the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Now all of that has changed with the grand opening of the Museum of Siam on Sanamchai Road in Bangkok. We were first ushered into a small auditorium where we were presented with a light and sound show which gave us an introduction to the people of Siam....
