I also like to browse the gift shop for ideas and to buy some nice textile-related gifts and/or pretties that I can’t make myself. I LOVE the Textile Center. I live 100+ miles from Minneapolis, but I try always to stop there when I am in town. If you live anywhere near the Twin Cities it is an interesting place.
Exhibition opportunities
Textiles in a Tube defines textiles as any type of material made from fibers or other extended linear materials such as thread or yarn including old and new materials, techniques and technologies. Textiles in a Tube is a call to artists to expand their thinking in relation to textile materials, processes, concepts and results. You are invited to investigate what textiles are or what they can be and push forward to the &ldquo. The exhibition seeks to expand the definition of textiles. A statement for each piece is required stating the concept, technique or material that supports its textile connection.
San Jose
I am not an arts marketer, but I do all of our technology at the Textile Center, so I was selected to go along. A local organization got a grant to take 30+ artists from Minneapolis to the National Arts Marketing Conference in San Jose. Almost every meeting I have at the Textile Center has someone knitting or stitching or working on something. Some really good sessions, some not so great sessions. I went to Adobe HQ to get a photo for Andy. It was a great experience and a huge benefit for our little organization that can’t really afford conferences like this. Here’s me enjoying the sunny weather in San Jose.
