What affects did the Industrial Revolution have on independent textile craftsmen?

I am doing research on how the industrial revolution, and therefore textile factories, affected the lives of local and independent textile workers...their lifestyles, livelihoods and demands for their work.
If anyone knows anyone who has been affected,

I live not far from one of the first mills in the UK - Arkwrights mill.
These changed peoples lives forever, in the past people worked from home and although they had hard lives they were craftsmen, their skills were in demand.

The southern two thirds of England saw almost no growth in output per capita or productivity growth in the Industrial Revolution. The appearance that the Industrial Revolution in England represented a decisive break from the past is largely a product of the unusual demographic experience. Other places in Europe in the years 1200 to 1760 saw similar episodes of productivity growth that were as substantial as those in England from 1760 to 1860.
