I am an aspiring fashion designer and would like to find out what sites are out there that don't require having to purchase astronomical amounts of material etc.
Factories can be found at the references, but it is design firms you need, not manufacturers or factories. They have little to do with design.

The owner of a textile factory in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, who was fined R12 000 for employing nine undocumented immigrants, says that the lack of local skilled labour forced her into committing the offence. Wei Gong Zhou, the owner of Hong Feng textile factory, said the shortage of trained machinists in Newcastle meant only 23 of her 70 sewing machines were operating.
